RE: GE 40 watt, flame tipped, regular light bulbs - burned out in short time - bulbs broke loose from base when removing bulbs

In 2001 we built a new home and put GE light bulbs in every light socket. The complaint I have is that the 10 packages of 40 watt, flame tipped, regular based bulbs, I bought for the fixtures in my three bathrooms all burnt out in a very short time and when I replaced them EVERY single one of the burnt out bulbs broke loose from the base. It was dangerous for me to try to get the base out of the socket.

I cut myself several times because some of the bulbs fell out before I could catch them, shattering all over my vanities. Several of the bulbs actually busted out when I turned the switch on. I don't know how I managed to get such a horrible batch of light bulbs, but I am sure when I go to the store I will look for something besides GE. The flood lights I bought for my recessed lighting also burnt out very quickly.

I have replaced them with compact flourescent mini spiral lights from Commercial Electric. I also done an experiment on them. I have replaced 4 of your flood lights so far and the spiral light is still burning. They are in the same hallway and get the same amount of burn time. I am going to write to their company and let them know what a great product they have.

Thank you,

Karen Peters
