RE: United Nissan, Las Vegas, NV - tried to pay cash for 2004 Nissan Quest - hassle with unwanted financing resulted
To whom it may concern, My wife and I were in the market for a 2004 nissan quest. After about 2 weeks of shopping for the van, United Nissan calls us and tells us they would give us a van for 300.00 over invoice. My wife and I were overjoyed. We went to the dealership (for a third visit). Test drove, and started negotiating. They were just giving us monthly payments and we kept telling them that we wanted to know the price of the van without talking about monthly payments. Then they pulled a fast one on us. They said that they couldnt go 300.00 over invoice and that we were miss informed, and that the price would have to be 1500.00 over invoice. We said that we were going to leave. So we haggled some more. After over a hour and a half, we finally got to the price of little over 24000.00. They kept telling my wife to sign a credit report but she kept saying no. Right after that, we told everybody in the room that we were paying cash.
But they tricked my wife into signing a credit report by covering the words that said credit application so she had signed it thinking it was papers for the car (this was nearly four hours later). When they had checked her report and found that it was good they said that the car was going to be ours. But she told the salesman she didnt say that they could do a credit check on her and the salesman kept saying ya we did it and it looks good.
We were disappointed about that but we were rushing because we wanted everything to finish up because it was getting late into the nite. They also lied on the financing paper work saying that she worked at the Texas Station Casino, but shes a homemaker and never worked for that casino. We kept on telling them that we would pay cash (so it was strange to think that we would they run a credit report on her). They said it was a safety net for them because of people writing bad checks. We wrote the check out and was happy to get the ball going. THEN near the end of all the paper work they said that they could not accept the out of state check. We were upset AGAIN but wanted to just get going because our son had missed our dinner. United Nissan told us to take the check and when the stubs come in just send it out to the bank.
They said that they had to do a short term financing because they dont take out of state check and that we could pay off the car when the payment booklet came in for the van. They had said that we wouldnt pay for anything extra except maybe ten or fifteen dollars and that was it so again we obliged. But a closer look at the contract by our bank and a loan officer said we would pay interest on it no matter what.
So for a month we tried to contact the dealer to take a check so we wouldnt have to deal with any interest or monthly payment. Before leaving the dealership my wife had said to them that maybe we should pick it up tomorrow so we could inspect it better and see if there were any defects they said that we could just take it and if we see anything just bring it back the next day and get it fixed. We took delivery of the van after nine at nite. We noticed the interior and runningboard lights were not working , a ding and scratch on hood, smudges on the sliding door, and on windshield. So the next day we went back to get our floormats, and told them about the problems. They said they would take care of it on Wednesday. We had the car at United Nissan for two days only for the solution to be the interior lights couldnt get fixed because they didnt have the part and would have to order it.
When I pick up the van on Thursday there was a new ding on the driver side door and the smudges that were suppose to be buffed out became more pronounced. We complained and they said that they would fix everything and get the van professionally buffed. The next day we brought in the van and again had it for the whole day and buffed out all the blemishes. The following week I brought in the van to get the dent fixed up. The scratch and ding on hood wasnt really taken care of. They just buffed it and you still can see the ding. It was near the end of the day and they said that the dent was not fixed yet. Two hours later they had called and said the dent was fixed BUT now there was a crease like someone just opened a car next to the van with a lot of power. So we brought the van in AGAIN to get fixed the following week. The crease was about a inch and a half. So we bring it and it stays for 2 and a half days. They promised that it would be finished by noon, it was nearly three oclock when they said it was ready for pickup. When my wife picked it up it looked fine. But the weather stripping on the driver sliding door was coming off. Since it was out of place it got damaged. We told them what was wrong. They didnt replace it.
They just refastened it. In a couple of years I have to get that replaced. But other then that I thought the van was in great condition until I washed the van. I found scratches on my side mirrors. It looked like they used steel wool pad to wipe my side mirrors. They just called me today and said that they couldnt help us with that. My wife and I love the van. We just hate that for every week we have had the van we had to bring it in for repairs. We have also tried to contact the general manager don foreman. But he has never returned my calls. We still have to bring in the van next week to fix the weather stripping on the driver side door. Although we did get a great deal on the car it seems as if someone intentionally goes on the service department to screw something up for us. If you are in for a Nissan I would highly suggest you do not go to UNITED NISSAN in Las Vegas. Theyll sell the car to you but they really dont give a crap about what happens after that.
They didnt seem to care that our car was in the care for almost half of the time that we owned it. Or be careful when you bring your car into their service department because a lot of strange things had happened to our 04 Quest. Have fun shopping and be aware of all the scams that are out there. Do a lot of your research online and things should go well. Sincerely, Ed and Shar Crisostomo
