Washington Gas is charging me for more gas than I have used. Our normal monthly gas usage for the summer is 10-15 units. For June they charged me for 32 units and for July they charged me for 63. We barely even use that much in the middle of winter!!

 

They are trying to tell me that there was nothing wrong with our gas meter and perhaps it is our water heater that is working incorrectly. I had our water heater checked out in August and nothing is wrong with it. Amazingly though, after I first contacted them in July our gas usage went back down the the normal 10-15 units. A little fishy, huh?

 

Almost every customer service agent I have dealt with has been extremely rude and just tells me that the meter was read correctly and I don't deserve a refund. I understand that the reading was correct but that doesn't mean something wasn't wrong with it or someone didn't mess with it and overcharge us.

 

It's a little too coincidental that our bills went back to normal as soon as I called. The only thing our gas is used for in the summer is our water and there's no way we used 6 times as much water in July than we used

in August. And I have the water bills to prove it.

 

They have overcharged us a total of about $90. Unfortunately this isn't something I could refuse to pay or they could turn my gas off. I am trying every aspect possible to get this refund and I am going to fight

these charges as long as it takes.

 

I don't think I have ever dealt with a company so rude and stubborn, and until I get the refund I am due, everyone is going to know it.
