I have a student loan with Sallie Mae which I always pay on time. I have had an internet based access for making payments. I had lost my password and since have been unable to access the account and there was no secret question or facilitty for letting me recover the password.

Sallie Mae's page indicated that I could not do it from an overseas location and referenced a 1-888 number. Unfortunately, this number does not connect? The other number would require a hefty charge from where i am at. The nature of my graduate degree insures me marketabilty overseas rather than in the States. The snail mail route is very insecure from my location and even the registered mail is of an unreliable nature. Now I am in a delimma?

Though willing to pay my loan it looks like Sallie Mae's infrastucture is not going to let me do that very easily unless it involves a sizable expense. I would advice future students to determine the friendliness of the varying financial institutions set-ups as it is an important feature. Either way, this will be expensive in costs to recover the password or by having an adversed effect on my credit rating.

Very disturbed with Sallie Mae
