RE: MBNA credit card - unauthorized charge of $ 77 per month from credit protection department - out a total of $ 231 so far I have had an account with MBNA for many years, with balances over $10,000. Recently someone decided to cold call me at my mobile number, my wife answered. It was someone from their credit card protection dept, just like the hundreds of calls we call get. She told them to send the information, but apparently they are somehow more aggressive than the typical cold caller and decided to just subscribe me for the service. Upon coming back to the USA, I just found out that I was been charged $77/month for the last 3 months. Upon trying to dispute the charge, the 1st MBNA rep claims that they have no connection with the credit protection dept, the 2nd rep claims that it’s a totally different company, and finally the manager tells me that it’s part of the same company but another division. Bottom line, I’m out $231 thanks to a cold call to me, which my wife answered, and which MBNA took advantage of. Nothing was ever done in writing, nothing was ever sent to me, nothing… Lesson: HANG UP ON ALL COLD CALLERS!!! THEY DON’T DESERVE OUR TIME. SPECIALLY FROM MBNA
