RE: Kitchen Aid dishwasher kudi24seal1 - 6 years old - racks have rusted - touch pad buttons have cracked - pump re-built three years ago I purchased this dishwasher six years, at that time one of the top rated premium dishwashers, for which I paid a premium price. It replaced a kitchen aid dishwasher originally purchased in 1973, (23 years old when replaced, still looked new). In six years the bottom racks have completely rusted away, and the top ones are well on the way. The touch pad buttons on the from panel have cracked and broken away. I had to have the pump rebuilt three years ago, the soap dish sometimes won't close, and the dishes are no longer clean. I purchased a replacement Maytag this week end and can't wait to have the kitchen aid removed from my home. Kitchen aid no longer produces the durable quality products of days gone by, and they have obviously forgotten their slogan "For the way its made." I suggest anyway shopping for a new dishwasher search for higher quality and not waste their money on the kitchen aid. rod

Fortunately, no such major problems (knock wood), however, I'm here to report same story with the upper rack rusting. Mine is not quite six years and is used very gently. Nevertheless, the racks are rusting. KitchenAid will replace for the ridiculous price of $155 plus $28 shipping. Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't clean the dishes all that well?
