Complaint details: I foolishly ordered sunglasses, over the web from Vanquish Eyewear, also known as Gattaca Eyewear (a division of Matrix Mailing) First issue: The sunglasses arrived EIGHT (8) weeks after ordering, although their guarantee was 2–3 weeks after ordering. Second issue: When I rang to question the location of the eyewear, I couldn’t get through to any customer service representatives. I e–mailed twice to try and find out the status of the order and did eventually receive a reply, telling me they were on their way, but I couldn’t be told an arrival date.. Third issue: The sunglasses arrived and were in poor condition, and not of the quality stated in the advertisements, they also didn’t fit my face. I therefore returned six out of the seven pairs. I returned the sunglasses immediately, the day after receipt and well within the return period. Fourth issue: Vanquish Eyewear does nor appear to want to return my money, a total of $90.60. I have sent two e–mails requesting information, and I have left a voice message with the customer service department (which doesn’t answer it’s phones). I have not heard any response. I would appreciate all consumers warned of this issues when dealing with this company, and any assistance that complaints.com can achieve, Thanks, Natalie Colbert Vanquish Eyewear order (100250)

These are interesting people...sometime back I signed up for a trial service program they have where they ship two pair of sunglasses 4x a year. For this I paid shipping and handling of $19.90. After sa few shipments I called twice to stop the service, but their response has been to begin shipping/billing monthly! Beware!

I recently have had problems with Vanquish. My pair of R7 broke on the bridge only after wearing for 2 weeks. I cannot find contact info or where to return them. I am very dissatisfied with this company and will never buy anything from this product line in the future.

I have order two pairs of sunglasses and two hard cases to house them. I have not had to contact customer service, so not sure about those comments. But, I was happy with the sunglasses (and they are polarized). I would put them in the quality of my Oakley's, of which i have 6 pair. I found Vanquish an excellent value for the price, and love the polarized lenses. My glasses arrived in about two and a half weeks- I thought the site said allow 6 to 8, maybe they changed the wording from when you ordered. So, I was happy when they arrived early. Also, you should have unchecked the box where they will send you additional glasses on a periodic bases. I do feel that you should have to check it, vs unchecking it.

I order from this company all the time. My shades are always delivered promptly and in mint condition. If I ever have a question, I am always able to get through to cust service. And they are very friendly and helpful. I find it very hard to believe that anyone has been "ripped off" by this company. It seems to me that you people complaining of getting ripped off are lazy and/or careless with your credit cards online. READ EVERTHING!!! Even the fine print!!!! Unbelievable!!

I have had no problems with the sunglasses I recieved from Vanquish. Also, when checking out, you should be more careful. There is a big blurb about subscribing to their 'free' sunglasses and a little box with a check in it. Uncheck this box before you complete the transaction and you won't recieve more glass at your expense. Expecially with schemes like this on, it is best to be carefull about the check out.

Consumers can be such fools. Use ShopSafe (if you have a good credit card) which generates a one-time card number for a set amount. Get your glasses and if they suck, you learned not to buy cheap Chinese junk like all the other suckers out there. If you like them and they have value--score!

My advice is free, learn from it, or continue to be a fool.

I have used Vanquish and it clearly states that you will get 2 free pairs every 2 or 3 months. They are way better than what you can buy any where for less than $20. You can call and cancel and most of them are polarized, good luck finding that for cheap. Read everything and there isn't a gimmick. I lose sunglasses faster than they can send them. I live in Hawaii where sunglasses are a must and I recommend ordering from them to everyone I know.

THIS COMPANY RIPPED OFF OUR CREDIT CARD. THEY ALSO WILL TELL YOU AFTER THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU ORDER YOU ARE SIGNED UP TO BE SENT GLASSES EVERY FEW MONTHS FOR " FREE" JUST PAY SHIPPING. WE WERE NEVER TOLD THAT WHEN WE ORDERED!!!! THIA COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST RIP OFF I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. I WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE!!!!

I have ordered from these guys at least a couple of times and have been satisfied. The only thing I found to complain about is that as others mention their customer service is not responsive. So if you have a problem, it could be trouble. If everything goes smoothly as it has for me, then you get pretty good quality sunglasses in a reasonable (though not express mail) time frame, in the $15-20 price range. My experience is they're much superior to most of the selection at department stores for those prices, and they're all or almost all polarized lenses, which is a nice feature IMO.

Since I am not an attorney, I could not offer this advise to others. But what I would do would be to check what institution & account the charge to your account was debited to. At the same time, begin a small claims suit against Vanquish Eyewear which they would ignore. When they did not appear for the hearing, a default judgement would be entered allowing me to garnish this account for the disputed amount and the expenses related to colleting it. Which would likely be greater than the cost of the glasses.


Of course I would check local laws relating to this.


It is somewhat of a pain in the ass but just what it sounds like they deserve.
