RE: Conway Store, 90 Fulton St., NY, NY - fire in our house due to a candle purchased at Conway - candle had flowers inside that were apparantly flammable

Dear Sir: On Tuesday, September 24, 2002 my daughter's bedroom caught on fire due to a candle that we purchased at Conway Store located in 90 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10038. It was 1:30 am when the fire broke, we are happy that my daughter is well, and her fiance, and nothing happened to them. But the bedroom is a total lost, they lost most of their cloth, and furniture. This is a two family house, and we were lucky to be living, and stop the fire from spreading to the other apartment. This candle has a strong crystal base, flowers inside, and sand, it seems that the flowers are flammable, and dangerous. I want Conway's to alert their clients, and stop selling this product. Their is no label or instructions in how to use this candle, it serves as an air freshener, and brings lots of nice smell, but it is flammable. We are

renters, and we are unable to recover what we lost.

We now have to move because our landlord does not want us in the apartment, and we don't have a place to live, the conditions of the apartment are unhealthy, and we can't live with the smell of the chemicals. Should we file a case against Conway? What should we do? We are now struggling to find a solution to this problem? We want that people are aware of this dangerous product, and Conway stops

selling it. Can you please advice us, and let us know what do to? We look forward to hearing from you? Miriam Almestica-Vasquez
