Hand Car Wash & Express Lube, Randolph, NJ - paid for, but didn't receive wheel & rim cleaning

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on September 23, 2002:

Sunday, September 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. I washed my car at Hand Car Wash & Express Lube, 260 South Salem Street, Randolph, NJ 07869, tel. 973-442-2223.

I purchased wash B at $14.95, which was supposed to include a "wheel & rim" cleaning, for which there is a blue sign which lights up when your car passes through.

This sign did not light up when my car passed through, even though it did light up for the customer ahead of me, who had purchase wash A ('the Works"), and the one behind me, who also had purchased wash A.

When I pointed out the deficiency to manager Tony, he first said the bulb in the light was out - when I showed him that that was not the case, then he said that in order to get the "wheel & rim" cleaning I needed to buy wash A - even though I pointed out to the clearly posted sign outside which showed that both washes A and B include the "wheel & rim" cleaning.

He did not make any adjustment to the equipment, or otherwise - just turned his back.
