RE: Carnival Cruise Line - unpleasant experience on the Carnival Destiny - room not as expected - rude service
On August 11,2002, my mother, my daughter, a friend and myself were looking forward to our vacation on the Carnival Destiny. When we got to the cruise ship our faces dropped when we saw our cabins. I booked a guarantee ocean-view triple I got a deck view and a cabin that was for 2 people and a rollaway bed that was blocking the closet space, we lived for in and out of suit cases for that week.
We went to the purser desk and spoke to a Millie Edmondson, she was very nasty and said if you don't like it you can get off at the next port and fly back to New York. I know for a fact at the first two ports people get on and off the ship, I also know that there has to be extra cabins in case of emergencies. We all had a very bad year and were looking so forward to get away and having a relaxing vacation.
On August 18th when we got back to San Juan P.R. the lady that was telling the people when to embark the ship made an announcement:" whoever is ready may do so now" so my mom, my daughter and myself started to go.
When we got off the ship Millie was standing there and said "where the hell are you going get back on the ship right now." I told her the lady that was on the ship said we could leave now. My mother is 79 years old, she been sick since we came back.
I received a letter on September 12 from the cruise line that they will take 10% our next cruise which is no compensation for my family and the unpleasant experiences that we endured on our trip. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
