Experian - unable to get credit report udated with corrent, current information - account was paid in 1997

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on September 12, 2002:

Type your detailed complaint here: Experian refuses to correct a credit reporting error. I have requested in writing several times under the fair credit reporting act for them to correct/investigate.

What must I do to get this done. They are required by law to investigate my complaint. The account is listed:Creditor DSRM NB account #90700000

This account shows that it is still past due even though it has been paid since 1997. All I want is for them to do what is right.
