RE: The Washington Mutual Bank - Merger of Fleet Resulted In Duplicate Loans With Different Account Numbers On Credit Profile After paying off my existing home loan earlier this year, I pulled my credit profile to review the actions / reporting of WAMU.

I found that even though they had given me a new account number as a result of buying / merging with Fleet, they have failed to report the original loan as paid or have it removed after the 90 period required by law.

It's now 6 months later, am I'm still trying to get the 'additional' loan reflected as paid, or removed from the system. Even though I have provided copies of the credit profiles to WAMU, they are still moving at turtles pace.

In conversation with a Customer Care Rep at WAMU he indicated they knew of this problem, and there are numerous loans with this problem.

This leaves me to believe that the public is unknowing of this issue, and will find out sooner or later, probably later when seeking credit. Those affected by this action are entitled to damges equal to the damage.

As of this date, they have been given an official 10 day notice prior to definite action (legal and otherwise.)

My advice to everyone using WAMU and having an original loan with Fleet

Pull your credit profiles and review the facts for yourselves.

Based on the admission of WAMU and the numerious loans affected, I would expect that this is a nationwide problem affecting many homeowners, in other terms.

A Class Action legal proceeding may be required in this matter.

Thanks!
