Travel Agents - Cheaptickets.com trouble with reimbursement
Un-American and Un-united Cheaptickets.com From: Date: Sunday, September 23, 2001 11:13 AM Sent To: Email User 9/23/2001 11:13:06 AM 3 days ago, I faxed a letter to the President & CEO of Cheaptickets: Mr. Sam E. Galeotos in Honolulu and have received no reply. Nothing. Not one phone call or letter or apology. Here was the complaint: I live in Manhattan and am scheduled to depart for France in a couple of weeks. I made a reservation on a TWA flight departing NY to Paris (TWA#924). Due to the terrorist attack on the WTC, I called TWA to confirm my flight. At this point, I was told the flight was "discontinued" and they booked on American Airlines. I asked if I chose to, could I get a full refund? TWA said yes and that I should contact my travel agency. At that point, I called CheapTickets and talked to Customer Service and explained that I was really nervous flying on American and asked if they could instead book me on Air France (which is listed at the same price I paid for with TWA). They said that they would have to mail me a "reimbursement application" and that it could take anywhere from one to six months. I explained that I'm scheduled to leave in 3 weeks. They didn't care and repeated that it could take 1 to 6 months for reimbursement. I don't know about you, but who has an extra $1,000 just laying around!!! The hassle and disrespect I've received from this agency claiming to be a "top-rated" service is just not worth it! Next time, I'll bite the bullet and spend the extra dollars to book through a reputable agency. Don't use this service! As the name says it: they're cheap!
