RE: Ameritech cordless phone - quit working after one year - purchased replacement phone, which also quit working

I purchased a cordless phone from Ameritech Two years ago, It lasted one year and just quit working. I paid monthly for the phone for 12 months. When it just quit working I thought, "Oh well" and ordered another one. I ordered another one, a better one, more expensive.

The price of the phone after paying monthly was around $200.00. The month that I made my last payment on the phone it broke also. Just quit working.

I bought a new battery and still would not work. I called Ameritech and was told to send the phone in with $50.00 and they would fix it. I told them that this was the second phone that died on me just as my warranty ended. But I was told to still send in the phone and $50.00.

Why would I do this when I could go buy a new phone for half the price of an Ameritech phone. I have since changed phone companies due to this.
