RE: Tracfone - purchased from Kmart, Waynesboro, VA - unable to use phone in roaming area - unable to get viable solution from Tracfone - can't get refund from Kmart

I purchased a Tracfone on July 24. 2003 at the Kmart store in Waynesboro, Va.. It is now October 1, 2003 and I have not been able to use this phone when I switch to a roaming area. Tracfone tech support

are friendly but I feel I am getting the run around.

Kmart will not refund my money for the phone because you only have 90 days to return an item. Tracfone requires you to be in the roaming area to trouble shoot there phone. All they do is have you punch in number that are codes and tell you it take 24 to 48 hour for the code to take effect.

I have spent $160.00 to purchase the phone and service for one year. All I have to show for my money is a phone that has the range of a CB radio and ends up being a digital clock when you are roaming. I realize I am out my money and you can't help me.

I am submitting this complaint in the hope, it with other peoples may keep Tracfone from doing the same thing to other prepaided cell phone customers. Doug

and this has what to do with Kmart?...

other than the fact it was purchased there, it has nothing to do with a Kmart complaint.

You should be complaining about Tracfone, as they are the ones giving you the problem.

When a prepaid phone is purchased and activated, it is no longer able to be returned to the store (in 99% of cases), because once it is activated, the store cannot do anything with it. I have had a issue with Tracfone a few times and every time Tracfone customer service had to handle it, not the store.
