RE: SunTrust bank, Atlanta, GA - charged $ 300 in insufficient fund fees
I started with SunTrust by depositing $1,700 in cash. Then when I received my Long Term Disability Check for $3,800 I deposited it. Well SunTrust security determined that my check was likely to bounce and sent me a letter almost two weeks later.
The check was from Unum Provident with book value of $7.7 Billion dollars. Meanwhile they held 10 of my checks and charged me $300 in insufficient fees. During this time I also received a $5,400 cashiers check from the bank across the parking lot and guess why, things still bounced. I had $8,000 in checking and these fools were charging me $300 in fees.
The next thing was, I was cheated on the Internet by an online casino. Suntrust tells me their logoed Visa checkcard is not covered by Visa chargeback policy. So I went to their pamplet on this and saw that they state "It works like a check". So I asked to stop payment on these before they cleared. Per SunTrust I could not do this either.
These Customer Care people are the worst excuse for a department I have ever encountered. What they really don't want to do is incur the $15 charge for each chargeback. So they let me lose $3,000.
