RE: Superfloor store, Hwy 35, Eatontown, NJ - denied refund of $ 300 deposit

To Whom IT May Concern:

I was out pricing wood floors with a friend on Sept. 12,2002 at the superfloor store on Hwy 35 in Eatontown NJ . I had priced some thru word of mouth and a Home depot. It was about 6PM I was just in the store looking. A friendly salesman named Mike came over we were telling him what we were looking for and I also was working with a contractor. but If I could do better my contractor was doing other thing in the renovation of my house.and he had alot of work .

I stated I was a single mom and I wanted good quality but not bottom line this house was my future retirement. I work 2 jobs I do have a nice house but I worked for it .He showed us products & there was one I thought I would like it in my home.

Mike said I could take the one and only sample home but I would have to leave a deposit but I had to realize that it was the onlt piece he had . He asked if someone could measure I know it usually a free thing or around 25.00 fee.

I said OK but I had to leave as i needed to be at my son's open house at school 5 miles away. He asked for a $300.00 hold but promised I would receive it back when I returned the sample.

I changed my mind and cancelled the measurer as my contractor could do what i needed for a good price.

I returned the sample Sept. 14, 20002 around 10 AM I asked for my deposit Mike informed me I could not have my check back it was deposited but the home office would mail me a check for $300 .00 in 3 weeks

ON Oct. 6 20002 I called Mike at the store to ask where my money was .

1 He told me the home office decided I was not entitled to any money

2 So I would not be upset they would be nice & give me $300.00 in store credit I don't need it Mike informed me this is what commodities is and he felt no one could be that stupid to leave 300.00 & expect to get it back I am now being insulted & robbed He told me I was jerking him around & again stated no one could understand that people are that stupid.

Well I work in the medical field i have for 35 years I think if he came in & i explained a medical procedure he might not get the idea. I would not think him stupid I would know it is a whole new experience.

I asked Mike for the home office address and any copy of paper work He said they don't give the home office number out as they would be interupted by people like me.

I am asking for an apology and my 300.00 .

Sincerely Yours, Jacqueline Talbot10/08/02
