RE: AT&T - cable phone service - promised, but didn't receive local unlimited service - paid $ 40 more than used to pay Ameritech
During the summer, around July, I saw ads for at&t local phone service. The ads listed unlimited calls for 29.99 a month. I bit, and signed up for the service. While signing up, I specifically asked the girl on the phone if the plan covered local and local toll calls.
I was told that the rate did cover both types of calls, and that I could expect my phone bill to be no more than $35.00 a month. My first bill was for $150.00. The bill said that at&t bills a month in advance for the service, and that my first bill might be higher than expected.
This was a lot higher than I expected, but I said ok and paid the bill. I expected my next bill to be lower, and it was. The next bill was for $115.00. This was $40.00 a month more than I paid on average with Ameritech. I felt that my old phone service was too expensive, so I switched to at&t.
I turns out that at&t is a ripoff for me, and is worse than my original service. Because of this at&t has lost all of my buisness-local and long distance. If I had a choice, I would dump them as my cable provider, but there is no other cable service offered in my area.
