RE: Aspire Credit Card Services - special power of attorney holder receiving calls for payment
I was appointed Special Power of Attorney for an 80 yr. old woman who is in serious credit card debt. She is on Social Security disability, with a total income of a litttle over $800 per month. We contacted an attorney & he advised us to write letters to her creditors, advising them that she cannot pay the more than $16,000 in debt, due to many credit cards that she has recieved, and used.
Beginning on Sep.28, 2002, Aspire Credit Card Services has called my home 16 times. I have spoken and explained to 3 different people the situation, after the letter I sent in July.
Yesterday a woman named Marty called me & virtually yelled at me to pay this bill, telling me I was responsible for this debt. I told her to quit calling my number, as I have told them after several of the calls, to no avail. This morning I recieved 5 phone calls from them. I have all calls logged with time & date.
I called them and spoke to a senior adjuster named Bonnie after these 5 calls today, & she said they will stop. I told her this was pure harassment, since I am not the debtor and that I was filing a complaint against the company. I also told her that I was reporting these calls to the Phone Co.
I think this Company should be made aware that they aren't allowed by law to do this. I'm half afraid to answer my phone.
Thank you for your help in this matter. The information on the Co. follows:
Aspire Visa Payment Processing P.O. Box 23007 Columbus, GA 31902-3007 The number they gave me is: 1-866-670-5103
Luann Jurski, POA for: Grace V. Smith
