Compaq Presario Notebook Computer - purchased in May, 2002 - motherboard failed after about 2 months of use - want refund for PC purchase

Dear Sir or Madam,

This letter is a request for a full refund of $1406 to reimburse us for the cost of the above referenced computer.

Basically, we purchased the computer in May of 2002. We used the machine for about two months until one day it abruptly failed to turn on. From then on the machine has been going back ad forth to the warranty department and we have been on the phone innumerable hours with support people.

Some of your support technicians claim we damaged the motherboard and want $689 to repair the computer. We maintain we gave it normal use and it is a component failure under warranty. A log of various and sundry conversations we have had with Compaq is attached.

At this point we think the only remedy is to obtain a complete refund of $1406. If you are not amenable to this solution, we will file in Small Claims Court either in Los Angeles or in Palo Alto for this amount. If we do not hear from you within ten (10) days from the writing of this letter, we will assume you want to handle the matter in Small Claims Court.
