I am forwarding a letter I recently wrote to subject cruise line. 3254 Aldoro Ave Spring Hill, Florida 32609 18 Oct 2002 Norwegian Cruise Line 7665 Corporate Center Drive Miami, Florida 33126 Gentlemen: In case you did not receive our comment cards from our recent cruise, we wanted to make sure that you got our message. We fell that voyage 04020927 in cabin 9006 was a total waste of our $4,675.30 +. Sail date 27 Sep 2002, reservation 1347735 on the Wind. Your Fanning Island is a total Joke. We spent nearly seven (7) days sailing in a dirty cabin to travel back in time 100 years. We were told not to drink the water so we were going to take water to drink with us. We were told not to take water because it would be furnished by the ship. It was furnished all right, they were charging $2.00 a bottle for it.
When we did stop the one (1) to three (3) hours to disembark left no time for sightseeing. You can only shop so much and you can do that at home. When we reached Hilo, we had to stay out of port until the Star left. We arrived around 2:00p.m. but didn't get to shore until until 3:00p.m. By the time we stood in line to get off the ship, and allowed time to get back on board, we had 3 hours to spend on the Big Island. The ship skipped going to Kona all together.
The entertainment consisted of learning crafts and listening to lectures or playing Bingo. Then these were held in a room too small to handle the bored passengers. What happened to the gambling machines? The entertainment proved only lasted approximately 30 minutes. Passengers would go into the lounge hours early and save seats for all their friends, so when it was show time and others started arriving it became pandemonium. If you did have a seat you couldn't see anything for the people standing in the isles.
The food was good for a Smorgosbord; however, you only want to eat so much chicken. We did have three good meals aboard ship. Your $50.00 per passenger to be spent on board ship was also a total joke considering the inconvenience. Understand someone becoming ill but I am sure there was a better way to transport this passenger for care. Inconveniencing 1700 passengers just does not seem appropriate.
Our cabin was so dirty that we cleaned it ourselves one day. The dust was an inch thick. The couch was so dirty that we used the blanket in the closet to cover it so we could feel comfortable sitting on it. We had a stateroom that we paid extra for too. Do you think I will be recommending your cruise line to any of my friends? Not even my enemies. This was the most unorganized and unsatisfying vacation we have ever taken.
