RE: Gateway Computer - PC rebooted automatically if no activity in 15 minutes - fix given by Gateway technician now causes PC to crash ever 15 minutes if no activity
I purchased a state of the art Gateway Computer earlier this year, and it never ran quite right but I managed to get by.
Recently, A friend told me to try contacting Gateway by email and discuss the problem; They should be able to relay instructions to correct an annoying habit of the computer re-booting if no activity for more than 15 minutes or so.
I contacted Gateway at Email User and explained my problem. They responded promptly (fellow by name of Shane) and told me to disable my hibernate mode, gave explicit instructions for doing so, and I did do.
Now the computer no longer re-boots after the time interval, but it throws up a blue screen "beginning dump of data" and totally locks everything. Only solution is to pull plug.
I went back to Gateway with this new information and was informed that I must go to the place where I purchased the GATEWAY for help. I bought the thing from Tiger, a mail order firm. I contacted them and they said they sell 1000s of products and have no way of assisting specific brands, that is what the Company that makes the product should do.
I went back to Gateway and they told me to have a nice day.
It appears I will be trashing my Gateway and buying a new Computer, but only after I make sure that whatever brand I buy will have a manufacturer who stands behind his product and has tech support available to correct minor glitches, UNLIKE GATEWAY.
