Complaints.com received the following consumer message on October 10, 2002:

RE: www.ditech.com - filled out online application - refinance nightmare - trouble contacting company REFINANCE FROM ________! DiTech.com (GMAC) ---Filled out application online. Was contacted the next day. They are very fast and accommodating at this stage. Jay said everything looked good (credit, time on job, etc.) We locked in the interest rate with $500.00 from our credit card.

 

Then, oh boy, what a nightmare! In my opinion, do not do business with these people unless you do not care about customer service, no call backs, and insidious voice mail.

 

They sent out the appraiser. I spoke with him and he said he had several comparables. We were assured that we would be funded 9/30/02 and all was going fine. Now the trouble starts. They need this, they need that, we comply. By the way, all of these requirements could have been requested long before the final days. We complied with all of their changes and all their requests.

 

Some of these requests required taking time off work. Now the loan has been canceled because they say there are no comparables. This is a lie! They refuse to give the real reason. We think it is the interest rate that they do not want to give but are stuck with. But we don't know. They wasted our time, caused us to lose work and money.

 

They are horrible at call backs; with most of their voice mailboxes are so full you can't leave messages. Supervisors don't call back. Where's our $500.00? We don't know and can't get them to answer the phone to tell us. They move you from one department to another. "I can't help you.

 

This department has your file. So and so is now in charge." Here is the problem. I can't talk to those people. They don't take calls from me - a customer. REFINANCE NIGHTMARE!

They put a little contest in a Woman's magazine stating that the winner will have their mortgage paid for a year- principal and interest up to $25,000, or renters receive $25,000. Well I tried to enter this contest online and it said this page could not be displayed. So I talked to someone on the live chat to see if they could tell me what the problem was.He could not help me or find anyone to help. But, then stated if I applied then someone could possibly help me. I told them I did not want to apply, only for the contest. Well, he didn't respond back after that.Then, I just said e-mail me back otherwise I know your add was bogus, and it was just to lure people. Now we will see if anyone e-mails me with info on the contest w/o me having to apply for some type of loan.
