RE: Sears' Incompetence
I always feel my stress factor rise when I walk into a Sears store. I don't even know why I go in there in the first place but sometimes they are the only ones around who have what I need. I can't tell you how many times I have gone in and not been able to find anyone to help me, or they don't have the item they advertised in stock, or the item I want is mislabeled with the wrong pricing information, or the employees are just plain rude! Today was the clincher!!
My husband and I went in to buy a disposal on sale for $99.00. We also picked up a disposal tubing kit that was on a rack just above the disposals. There were several kits on the rack and the rack had a price tag of $4.99. When we went to the counter to get checked out, the clerk told us the total was $121.89. I said that didn't make sense and he said the tubing kit was $15.99.
I told him the rack was marked $4.99 and showed it to him. He said that sign was for some vents that were actually displayed down another isle. I asked to talk to a manager. He pointed me to some man. When I approached that person and tried to explain our plight, he told me to "Go to Hell!". I was stunned when a manager finally did appear.
I didn't know whether to complain about the mis-price or the rude employee first. All he said was "I am very sorry." in a very soft-spoken voice. Needless to say we left Sears without the tubing kit or the disposal. They certainly don't feel customer service is part of their business. I doubt I will ever go in to a Sears store again. If I ever need anything that only they have, I will do without!
