Services, Plumbing & Electrical - Pick Red rediculous quote for ceiling fan installation

Complaints.com received the following e-message on October 19, 2001:

RE: Pick Red Pick Red is a company that does plumbing and electrical work. They advertise that they are the lowest price in town. I had 3 ceiling fans that I wanted installed. When the salesman/installer came out, he

commented that he has the same kind of cathedral ceiling that I had in my bedroom and he wouldn't even install a fan in his house because it was so hard. He took 45 minutes to write the estimate. It was for over

$2,000!!! When I told him that $2,000 was a ridiculous cost (especially since I was providing my own fans), he said I was still required to pay the $29.95 charge for providing the estimate. I paid the $29.95 and as soon

as he left, I called his office to complain. I requested that the $29.95 be refunded to me. I was told to call a toll number to request the form. I had a hard time getting a complaint form from them. In fact, I had to call twice and send an email. I finally got 1 complaint form about a month later. I turned it in several months ago and still have not heard a word from them. I finally had the work done by another company for $200 and it took 2 hours. Not only were they falsely advertising that they were the lowest price in town, but I found a salesman/installer who was willing and able

to do the work. Apparently Pick Red is not interested in good customer service. I wonder if they make their money charging the $29.95 and have no intentions of doing the work. Rosemary Richter
