I filed a claim with MY insurance Co. Geico. I was instructed by the Tow Co. To have the drive train checked for damages as it was very common for this type of damage in rear end accidents. I spoke with adjuster Jose Lara with Geico and instructed him that I wanted the drive train checked and included in the adjustment. Apparanty Geico and Mr. Lara ignored this request.

 

The vehicle was in the body shop and the frame and body was repaired but shop made note that there may have been damage to drive train on final invoice which was sent to Geico. I noticed funny noises and other oddities after getting the vehicle back and repeatedly called Geico 24hr claims to report it needed to be inspected. I was told the adjuster would get back to me, he never did! I have been driving the car while making the complaints as I was making complaints hoping Geico would make good on their claim. Well, Friday, October 12, 2001 while driving home on a 2 lane dark highway in middle of nowhere, the transmission and transfer case imploded with my 12 year old son in the car! I called Geico Emerg Road Service which i pay as part of my policy and had their contracted driver in the area REFUSE to come get my vehicle.

 

I was forced to pay 100 bucks for a tow AND 90 bucks for an inspection to find out the transmission and Transfer case had been shoved forward since the accident! I contacted Jose Lara from Geico and he said he would go inspect vehicle. He did, along with his boss and another supervising adjuster. They were more interested in the body work that was completed and talking on the phone, ignoring BOTH mechanics tell them that the damage to the drive train was a direct result of the collision!!!!! I was shown SAME thing they were and later that evening the adjuster, Jose Lara, called and left a message.He referred me to his supervisor, he didnt have the BALLS to tell me that they were gonna screw me!

 

His supervisor said they werent responsible and they were denying the claim, claiming that it was MY fault and the body shops fault that his adjuster never did his job!!!! I am writing this is hopes that EVERYONE who reads it gets some insight as to what GEICO is REALLY about and DOESNT choose to believe their lies in all their ads!!!!!!!!! I also have yet to receive my deductible back, I am now out a 14k vehicle, 500 deductible, 100 for a tow, 90 for an inspection, no car for 3 months originally, and NOW a car that is WORTHLESS due to their negligence and inability to do their jobs!

 

All i got to show for this is a lesson is the criminal element of the insurance industry, a broken vehicle that looks nice and an empty pocket book. Geico is WORST at claims and should be avoided at ALL costs!!!!!!
