Horrible Refund Policy SkyAuction.com From: Date: Monday, October 15, 2001 03:10 PM Sent To: Email User 10/15/01 3:10:12 PM My wife and I had planned a trip to Paris for our Anniversary. We purchased a trip online through skyauction.com and were excited about the vacation to come. However, on September 11, tragic events in NYC and Washington changed our mind about traveling abroad.
First, I contacted United Airlines about my dilemma and they were more than ready to refund my ticket expense. Unfortunately for me, SkyAuction.com purchases tickets in bulk without any stated value printed on them. This created the necessity to go through this frustrating company. I couldn't find a phone number and had to go with the email address. After many emails back and forth, I was given the answer, "I must wait until the airline decides what they are able to do before SkyAuction.com can issue any refund or exchange to me. This they tell me can be 90 to 120 days.
Under normal circumstances, I would agree that these are non-refundable or changeable, however, given the events of the last month, I would be under the impression SkyAuction.com would do whatever possible to aid their clientele in these trying times.
In any event, my wife and I cancelled the trip were blessed with this decision when we heard the news of the attack on Afganistan the very time we were to be in Paris. Either this was a waste of $1300 or this was a very expensive lesson. Any way you look at it, it left a sour taste in my mouth. I will never use them again and will discourage all to not use them.
