I accepted a free trial from AOL. After only 3 days, I determined the "content" was not anything I could not get with a browser, and thus not worth the monthly charge. I attempted to cancel my account using their "online support". I was told that due to "security issues", (who was going to be using the screen name but the person with the authority to cancel?) I had to cancel by fax, and was given the number.
I did exactly as instructed. I then checked to see if the account was canceled several days later. Of course not! I talked to online support again. He assured me that if I sent another fax, it would be taken care of. I tried again, and again, no action was taken.
1-904 232-4879 was the fax number used. I finally sent them 10 copies of the fax and made sure they understood what was to follow (100 next time) and finally, they cancelled the account. I can imagine how "profitable" this is for them with people of less resolve than me. Kenneth Casey Alma, MI Ken Kenneth R.
