A Jones New York winter coat had a sale sticker on it for $99. Upon scanning the tag, the clerk said that it is coming up as $139. I pointed out the $99 sale price. She called the manager, where the manager angrily ripped the coat from my hand. I told her that I could show her where I found the coat.
She decided to ignore me, acting as though I was some kind of criminal, and found a higher level of manager. This senior manager told me that there is no way that this coat goes for $99. She said that someone may have traded tags.
I pointed out that when they scanned the tag, that it does come up as a Jones New York shearling coat in the vanilla color. So, the tags should be correct.
The Sr. Manager said that they would honor the $99 price, but that I could not use any other coupons (15%) with my purchase. The mid-level manager stormed off to the cash register. While doing so, she grabbed the sleeve and pulled the tag off until the plastic broke.
I asked for the coat back since I didn't like how she was man-handling it. I also did not care for her nasty attitude given that I am the customer and customers are what fuel her job. As the clerk was ringing up the coat, I asked how I was to return it since the mid-level manager ripped the tags off. They didn't have a decent answer.
Honestly, this is the LAST time that I shop in Hechts. This is the third bad experience that I've gone through. It's interesting to note how the clerks at Macy's are so much more professional and never make you feel like you suck.
