Complaint for Food Dynasty of Myrtle Ave. in Ridgewood, NY I am a customer of this super market for a year and had very unhappy experience recently.
On 11/22/2003, I shopped there as usually. When I checked out my stuffs, the cashier told me my total. Her voice was too soft and I could not hear her and I thought she said $34 something. So I gave her $35.00 ($20 + $10 + $5). She gave me back 56 cents. I checked my receipt and saw the total was $30.44. So I told her I gave here $35.
She told me to talk to the store manager. So I called the store manager. He came and asked the girl what happened. I told him what happed. He looked at the girl. The girl said: I dont know. I haven't had any break, I might have gave another customer $6 dollar instead of $2.
The store manager said to her crudely: "THIS COULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!" I saw her eyes turned wet and tried hard not control her tears. The manager turned to me and said: "if the receipt said it's $31 then you gave her $31." He looked at me for two seconds and said: "Were you the one who complaint last time". I said "yes".
He repeated his words: "if the receipt said it's $31 then you gave her $31, and THAT'S IT!" Another young man who were collecting money for Lotto heard this and repeat the same words to me. I felt disgust and angry. WHAT KING OF ATTITUDE IS IT?!
If I gave the cashier $60 and she entered it as $31 and then it is my fault not to gave her the exactly changes?! They never make mistakes and all mistakes are customers?! I was very unhappy and left the store.
I called a friend and complaint this to her. She said I should call the stores customer service. So I did and told this to a lady on the phone. That lady told me to hold on. A few seconds later, I heard the managers voice. He screamed to me: "THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO OTHER CUSTOMERS, AND ONLY HAPPEN TO YOU, TWICE, DON'T COME HERE AGAIN!!"
Later I was told that the manager might be the owner of this super market. Now I know why another cashier girl dared to stole $20 from me. A few weeks ago, at same line but with a different girl, I was told that my total was $45 something. I gave the cashier $60 ($20 + $20 + $20) and started putting my stuffs into my shopping cart. I kept hearing she said $45.32 $45.32.
So I looked at her and said: I gave you $60. She said: "No, you gave me $40, this is what I have." I saw only two $20s on her hand. HOW COULD IT BE?! I had only three $20s in my pocket and I am sure I gave her three $20s. But she insisted that I gave her only two $20s. So I went out and asked my husband for another $20. He told me he gave me three $20s and I should not have left the counter and this new $20 was for me to learn a lesson.
The following week on my way checking out my staffs, the store manager were there helping to put my stuffs into shopping bags, I told this to him. He asked me which girl. I looked around and didn't see that girl. He told me if this happens again let him know right away.
Last week it happened to me again and I told the store manager, and this was how he handled it. I play NY Lotto every week, why I havent won any prize and someone have won twice? Next time you shop there, give the cashier LESS then you thought you heard her say. She will tell you what you still owe, instead of you just giving too much and having problems. Also, try not to bring all large bills, but a mixture of bills in order to give the clerk EXACT CHANGE. After you count out what you gave her EXACTLY, then just look at the receipt to make sure it's the same amount. Another good trick is to put your initials on the front of EACH BILL. If the manager doesn't believe you, tell him to check the register and look for all the bills with your initials...they can NEVER DISPUTE THAT!
