RE: Silkies - HCI Direct - invoiced $ 16.36 for unwanted, unordered pantyhose - promised, but haven't received return label My Complaint 11-24-03 About Silkies, PO Box 7857, Philadelphia, PA 19188-0001
Phone number 1-800-969-3695 Customer Service I responded to a "Try our Silkies Hosery FREE" postcard this past summer. I received them and put them away in a drawer, unopened. Later I received another package, unsolicited. I likewise put them away, unopened, thinking there had been some duplicity.
Then Silkies sent a bill, under account number 103237003-3, for $16.36 for the second package. There was no phone number on the bill, so I called 411 to help me track down a contact number.
They gave me 1-800-969-3695 for customer service. I called them on 10-27-03, spoke to Tina, and told them I had not ordered anthing but one pair of FREE stockings. They said there is a card in their original package that says they will send more if I do not tell them not to. I stated I am under NO OBLIGATION to open their package, and I had not seen any such note.
They said they would send me a return shipment label to return the second shipment at no cost or obligation. Today, I received another bill for $16.36, but no label. The customer service person I spoke today wasn't particularly helpful.
I don't want this lingering over the holidays, as it's their assumption, not mine, that has caused this problem. I don't want their sending me something illegally to affect my perfect credit rating.
Also, I feel this "assumption merchandise mailing" borders on a scam and I don't think it should be permitted to be imposed on Florida consumers.
This is not the only company who has done it to me and they have NEVER returned what I paid in postage to return their products. I refuse to spend a dime in postage to answer anyone's unsolicited requests to send things.
