While this is not the first complaint to be listed about a Mazda 626, it may be one of the youngest complaints. By that, I mean that I had to have the factory installed transmission on my new Mazda 626 (2002) replaced after only 5,000 miles.
While the dealer insisted it was a new, a rebuilt transmission was actually installed. The car has never been right since.
I even test drove the car with the dealer owner and a representative from Mazda North America and was told the jerking and lurching was "standard" on all Mazda 626s. I got Mazda to extend the car's warranty to 7 years/100,000 miles. Just this past Friday, the transmission failed again and it's at a new dealership awaiting a full assessment. What will it take for Mazda to recall this car? Write letters to anyone and everyone you know, call the attorney general in the state you reside, call or email the local TV stations who have "Shame on You" or "Crimestoppers" reporters, write or call your local papers.
