RE: Office Depot - purchased furniture - credenza delivered damaged - hutch and desk were wrong color - ongoing delivery hassle

On October 22nd we had 4 pieces of furniture delivered: 1 – Bookcase 2 – Credenza 3 – Hutch 4 – Desk We went to assemble the pieces 11/16 and found that the Credenza was damaged and the Hutch and Desk were the wrong color. On 11/17 I call 1-800-GODEPOT and talked with a customer service person. I told him we needed the Credenza replaced because it was damaged and the Hutch and Desk were the wrong color. He asked me questions about the damage on the Credenza and I told him it had gouge marks on the top piece. I asked him if we could just exchange the top piece and he said no. He took my cell number and said someone would be calling me to setup a delivery so we could exchange the furniture. I didn’t hear from anyone so on 11/19 I called the same number and talked to another customer service person. She said she showed the Desk and the Hutch as being exchanged but not the Credenza. I told her, like I told the first person, the Credenza was damaged and we needed to exchange that as well. I didn’t understand how I could have this involved conversation with the customer service person I talked to on Monday and he not put down that I needed that exchanged as well. Then this customer service person said that the exchange was supposed to happen yesterday. I told her no on called and said anything and there was no indication they even came by. She said she would add the Credenza to the exchange and have someone call me to setup a delivery for the exchange. Later that day on 11/19, I receive a voicemail from Office Depot to expect the delivery 11/18. That made me wonder how that could occur when it was already the 19th?! So, again I call back to that same number and talk to another customer service person and they inform me the person who left the message must not have read all the notes and the date it will be exchanged is 11/21. On 11/20 I get a voicemail left at my home number to call Shelly Salazar with Office Depot. 303-375-3340x3224. I call her the morning of 11/21 and she asks me to go look at the numbers on the boxes for the Hutch and the Desk. She wants to make sure we really get the right color this time. So I tell her the numbers and she said okay that will be delivered some time next week?!! I told her it was supposed to be delivered today and her response was “Well it won’t be delivered today”. I told her we were also expecting a Credenza and her response was “There’s nothing on the order about a credenza, but I’ll see what I can do. It definitely won’t be delivered at the same time”. I ask her when and she said maybe Monday for the Hutch and Desk and she can’t say when on the Credenza. I am now beside myself with the service I am getting at Office Depot. I can’t imagine that every person I interact with has the same cavalier attitude about getting my order right and delivered when they say it will be delivered. So because I am a glutton for bad customer service, I call the 1-800-GODEPOT number again. I get another customer service person who confirms the Credenza is not on the order. I ask for a manager. A lady gets on the phone and says she is the manager of the call center. I ask her to take my cell phone number down in the event we lose the connection she can call me back. During the call she seems sincere and sympathetic, but then our connection is dropped and she NEVER calls back. So I bet you’re wondering, do I dare call back AGAIN? Well, I did. I get another customer service person and explain the situation and ask for the person I was talking to. This person tells me there are a lot of call centers and there’s no way to get me back to that person so she transfers me to a manager named Heime. Heime says he will make sure to add the Credenza to the order and have someone from the warehouse call me to arrange delivery. What he has said is starting to sound like a broken record because so far no ones been able to add the Credenza to the order as originally requested and the delivery I did have setup was canceled. So it’s 11/21 and I’m waiting for a new person to call and setup delivery and I’m feeling like I can’t believe anything anyone tells me at Office Depot and I’m wondering if I will really ever get my furniture exchanged. Any help or advice you can offer is appreciated. Sincerely, Valerie Balzano
