RE: National Home Gardening Club - receiving collection letters from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau - told owe money for book from National Home Gardening Club that supposedly purchased in 1998

I've also received letters from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau saying I owe for a book received from National Home Gardening Club supposedly in 1998.

I understand that it is up to the collection agency to prove that they have a legitimate bill. In my case I checked my books for the title they said I didn't pay for and did not find it.

Does anyone know which state the statute of limitations applies in this case? In North Carolina where I live it runs out in 4 years but I don't know if NC or NY law applies here.
