We bought a Sears Air compressor in Dec. of 2002. It was to replace our Matco air compressor that had lasted 10 years before the pump went on it. The replacement pump was backorder for 6 weeks and we needed an air compressor right away. My husband is a retired autobody man who does side work to add a little extra cash in our pockets besides his Social Security payments.

We ended up getting a single stage, stationary compressor rated at 7hp with a 60 gallon tank. It was almost identical to the Matco compressor we had. That is were the similarity ends. The salesman assured us that the Sears compressor was just as good as the Matco. What a line of crap! This was the worst thing we ever could have bought. Ten months later the motor gave out on it.

It took almost a week to get a replacement motor. It was covered under the warranty so the new motor was free. Eleven months later the pump exploded internally. It blew off the protective cage, the belt and the wheel clean off the machine! The connecting rod and crank blasted the bearing to pieces. Thank God no one was near it when it blew apart.

Once again the pump is under warranty and will be replaced for free, but that is not the point. This POS is costing us time and money we don't have. The compressor is not used hard and is even residing in it's own room away from all the dust. It should last a heck of a lot longer than 11 months. Simply put, in our experience, Sears sells inferior products that don't last worth a lick. I absolutely will NEVER buy another thing from Sears again.
