RE: Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. - NMAC - unfairly charged $ 874 for "excessive wear" to leased vehicle when turned it back in at the end of the lease Nissan Leasers Beware I would like to add my voice to the list of dissatisfied lease customers of Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. (NMAC). My daughter leased a 2000 Xterra from a Nissan Dealership in Louisville, Kentucky, I cosigned. At the end of the lease, with permission from NMAC the vehicle was turned in at a non-Nissan dealership. We had an inspection done by a certified inspector at that time. There was no noticeable damage and was so listed on his report.
Shortly after we received a bill from NMAC for an additional $ 874.00 for excessive wear. I responded with a copy of the inspection and my protest. This started a series of correspondences up-the-ladder at NMAC, at every level the personnel at NMAC just did not care and showed no interest in reaching a negotiated settlement of this problem. I am amazed that they expect a vehicle with 36,000+ miles to be in show room condition. We are after all dealing with a used vehicle at this point.
It appears this is a thought out policy with NMAC and that they fully intend to collect additional moneys from the consumer at the termination of the lease. They will wave $ 500.00 of excessive wear if you purchase another Nissan Vehicle, I see this as a form of blackmail since it is predetermined that there will be additional charges. I can assure you that I will never purchase another vehicle from Nissan. Thank You, Phillip L Green

I put new tires on my truck about 9 months before turning it in. I was hoping to buy the vehicle. I ended up trading the truck in for a Nissan Maxima for purchase. But I DID recieve a bill from NMAC for 674.00 for excessive wear and tear on the tires. I tried to fight it, and it was on my credit report for several years. I finally paid it. No fees were waived for me. I recently leased a Nissan Altima, and I guess I will budget this rediculus expense, while hoping I will not be charged. Possibly I can get an inspection in writing regarding tires. Thank you for your input.
