1999 Chrysler Intrepid 2.7L - engine 'went out' at 74,000 miles - upset about car quality

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on November 8, 2002:

My mother and I bought a 99 chrysler Intrepid in December 2001. In October 2002 the engine has already went out. I have talked to several people in regards to this and heard that these cars are known for problems. We properly maintained the car.

The car has only 74,000 miles on it and is done. We did not buy an extended warranty, these parts are dodge only and are terribly overpriced. The dealership we purchased it from will do nothing to help us. Is there anything we can do? Thank you for your time
