Complaints.com received the following consumer message on November 29, 2002:

RE: Toys R Us, College Point, Queens, NY - receipt taken by store after made purchase - Toys R Us wouldn't exchange car seat without receipt To whom it may concern: I purchased a child's car seat at Toy's R Us which is located by the Whitestone Expressway service road in College Point, in Queens, New York. The date of purchase is November 21, 2002 in the evening between 7 and 8 PM. The purchase price was $59.99, and I paid for it with a Citibank Mastercard credit card, for my baby grandaughter who does not live with me.
After the purchase I received the receipt and then handed the receipt to the security guard who gave it to an employee who took the receipt. After approximately 15 minutes I received the baby car seat in a box. However, the employee never gave me the receipt, and I forgot to ask for it. The payment was made with my Citibank Mastercard credit card. The exact name of the car seat is "evenflo" booster car seat. I realized that the car seat is not re-adjustable so I put it back in the box without ever using it. I would like to exchange the car seat for another car seat and I am willing to pay the $40 difference for the better car seat. However, today November 29, 2002 I went to Toy's R Us to exchange the car seat and the manager of the store refused to talk to me or to even look at the car seat, because I did not have the receipt. The car seat is new and I would only like to exchange it for a better one and pay the difference. Since the payment was made with a credit card, I can obtain proof of payment but that will take some time. Please let me know what I should do because the manager of the Toys'R Us store did not want to communicate with us. Feel free to contact me at the following address.
