RE: Classic DVD Player / Model DVD102 - from Ames Department Store, New Hartford, NY (which is out of business) - unable to get rebate honored

The location of the business where the DVD was purchased was Ames Department Store in New Hartford, NY, which is no longer in business. Thank you for your inquiry.

In March 2002 I purchased a DVD player from our local Ames store. I mailed in the rebate request with all required documents. In May 2002, my mother received her rebate check. I didn't receive mine so I called the 800 number given.

They said they could tell that my check had not been cashed but had been issued. June I called again. They said if I didn't get a check in July to call back.

I called back again in July and again in August and again in September. Ames was going out of business. We went to the store to honor the rebate. They said they couldn't honor it because it was in the rebate promotion hand. I finally called again.

Now the rebate persons tell me they cannot honor the rebate. They no longer are handling rebates for Ames. They suggested I search for a website, which I did. No website. Ames is out of business.

Any suggestions?
