RE: Travelers Advantage Club - called to cancel free trial before the end of the 90 day free trial period - unable to cancel free trial and card was charged - so put charge in dispute with credit card company
I called Travelers Advantage today as I was approaching the conclusion of the 90 day free trial period. They informed me that they had already charged my credit card eventhough I was told this would not accure until the 90 day trial period was over.
Also, when I informed the representative that I wanted to cancel, he said that my membership was paid through October 2003. I informed him that I was told I could cancel at any time for a full refund of my membership fee. He said this was true.
Each time I told him I wanted to cancel he said that my guaranteed membership was good until October of 2003 and that he was sending out a packet of information to me with in 7 to 10 business days. I asked him if I would be receiving a refund on my credit card and he wouldn't answer the question. I intend to contact my credit card company and place the charge in dispute. I understand that Travelers Advantage has done this to other people and each year, Travelers Advantage tries to charge their credit card. Can you tell me how you have helped others in the past who have had the same problems with Travelers Advantage. How they get their information from the motel chains is bad. I was getting a room from Super 8 and then this arrived and the charge was on my bill. I saw somewhere about a class action law suit against Travelers Advantage was going on.
