Classmates.com - full usuage capabilities cut short of expiration date - upset about renewal tactics

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on November 18, 2002:

Last year, I paid Classmates.com for a full years membership. About two months ago, they began aggressively pushing for renewal. They did this both by E mail and when I logged onto the site. What's really irking me is that the last few weeks, they won't allow me to read member profiles. I can't explore the site without repeatedly being thrown into some sort of membership renewal page. I am paid in full until November 28, 2002. As such, I should be permitted to puruse the site in it's entirety. Tonight, I attempted to read a profile.

When I clicked on the profile icon, a screen came up with two options telling me I could renew now, or later. The button that said renew later, also said that it would return me to the profile. That was a load of crap. I clicked that button repeatedly, kept coming back with the same page. So, out of curiousity, I clicked on the renew button, and OF COURSE THAT page came up immediately. As far as I concerned, I have not gotten my money's worth from Classmates. Com. In any other term membership I have ever had, I have gotten full usage of the facilities etc until the actual date of expiration.

They have not made any easy way to contact the "powers that be" at Classmates.com, and I don't enjoy the guerilla tactics being employed to make me renew, and I have not enjoyed full access therefore not I did not receive my full money's worth. Karen Ewart

They now renew automatically unless you read the small print that says you have to change the type of renewal from Automatic to Manual

I will never give any money to Classmates.com again.

I BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE ARCIVES OF 500 PAGES AND 10,00 THREADS AND LITERALLY EVERY PAGE WAS FILLED WITH HATE SPEWING FROM NEAR EVERY DIRECTION!

shoot the illegal aliens as they illegally cross the boards into this country? Shouldn't we just start shooting them and be done with it?
