Verizon - hard-line phone not repaired when promised - no phone service for several weeks - temporary line installed but it's of extremely poor quality - terrible lack of service from Verizon

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on November 15, 2002:

ON FRIDAY 18 OCT 2002 I NOTIFIED VERIZION, MY PHONE WAS OUT OF ORDER & PROMISED BY A COURTEOUS OPERATOR THAT IT WAS AN EXTERNAL PROBLEM & THAT IT WOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE 19TH OR 20TH OCT. IT WASN'T REPAIRED . I CALLED 23 OCT, 28TH OCT,30TH OCT, 1 NOV, 4 NOV, 13 NOV. 15 NOV TO NO AVAIL.
ONLY THING DONE WAS THE INSTALLATION OF A TEMPORARY LINE 4 NOV, 2002 AT WHICH TIME A HOLE WAS DUG IN MY FRONT YARD & IT IS STILL THERE.
NOW THE TEMPORARY LINE IS EXCESSIVELY NOISY NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR.
I'M A PEDIATRICIAN & THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN USABLE FOR PAST 5 WEEKS EXCEPT FOR ONE WEEK WHEN THE TEMPORARY LINE WAS INSTALLED. NOW IT DOESN'T WORK. VERIZON HAVE CONTINUED TO OBFUSCATE ME---STALLING & DELAYING TACTICS. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO PRECLUDE THIS SORT OF DESPICABLE SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC
THEY HAVE ISSUED ME 3 DIFFERENT TRACKING NUMBERS TO DATE--319503, 3195055,
3191557 & STILL NO ACTION & MY FRONT YARD A MESS & NOW NO USABLE PHONE
