Golf Digest magazine - received collection notice from National Credit Audit Corporation for $ 14.97 for magazine subscription never ordered nor received

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on November 14, 2002:

I just recieved a collection notice from National Credit Audit Corporation for $14.97.It is for a Golf Digest magazine subscription I never asked for nor have ever seen.

The notice says "We will assume that you will pay shortly unless we hear from you." Of course they only include a long distance phone number to Peoria,Illinois and I live in California. I don't even golf! It's a shame that Golf Digest has to use this ploy to make money.

Please post this complaint.I e-mailed golf digest at Email User and asked them to clear this up and that I have e-mail a complaint to your website. Raquel Peters P.O.Box 1122 Oceano,Ca.93445
