My daughter got a new Jeep Cherokee in 1999. After 18 months the transfer case went out. The dealer replaced it due to a manufacturer defect. Now after another 18 months it went out again. They claim it is due to a bad seal which caused a slow leak.

This seal was probably bad at the time of installation if it only lasted 18 months or installed wrong. It looks very much like another manufacturer defect. Two transfer cases in 3 years!!! The dealer and Chrysler refuse to fix this car for free since it is no longer under warranty.
