RE: Complaint - American Home Shield
I am writing to complain about American Home Shield. I had a contract with them that I discontinued this year because they do not hold up to their end of their contracts. Their contract with me read that if a covered appliance is not repairable to a proper condition then the appliance will be replaced with a new appliance that is of a comparable value. Both my dish washer and my stove are covered under the contract. In the 4 years I had the contract the last 1 1/2 of it, I called AHS out on the appliances about 6 times each. Each time I would tell the person coming out to make the repair that they had been repaired in the past but they keep breaking. But each time, I was refused a new appliance and the appliance was repaired.
It would work maybe a few days sometimes a few weeks and break again. Currently, my stove only has 2 burners that work and the oven doesn't work at all. My dishwasher doesn't work at all and has about 3 inches of water standing in it. Now, instead of paying my premium for the insurance, I'm saving to buy two new appliances that they wont replace because each time I call a repair person it still cost me a $35 co-pay and by now I could have had a new dish washer. I want others to be aware of the problems I have had with this company and put there $460 annual premium into a savings account instead. American Home Shield will turn down your repair on air conditional unit base on a mismatch of your outside compressor and your attic coil. Example - your compressor is a 4 tons and your coil size up on your attic is 3.5 tons, AHS will denied your claim. I have done so many research on this mismatch size, according to the Industries Standard , it is permisible but AHS would use this excuses to denied your claim. I would suggest all the homeowners to check on your unit and stay away from this crook ( AHS ) you can feel free to contact me at glomaster AT usa.com as I can gave you more detail of my claim denied by them eventhough I got written statement from a few Air Conditioning service company that the mismatch does not create any problems. I have file a BBB report on this company and AHS is owned by another company that try to hide their contact phone number somewhere in Iowa. I urge all of you to read their fine print. AHS just don't care about the clients at all. The contractors were rude and disrespectfull. In one occation, the contactor took my burner to match for replacement and did not return for about three weeks; not until i called the AHS that the contractor remember to bring back the round head of the stove. Another occation, i called for my central heater, the contractor AHS sent, broke the heater more than he said he fixes it. He ended up changing parts like few times from Lowes, just because he doesn't know what the heck he was doing. I was with AHS for two years and i had to pay $55 everytime the contractors come to my house; but this year i refuse to renew my contract because they don't make any sense. I wanted them to replace my built-in microwave when it broke, its been in the house for very many years before i even bought the house, they sent someone to try to fix it instead of just changing it. It costs them more to fix than the brand new one in Lowes. I'm certainly not interested in this company anymore and i'll suggest that people DO NOT sign up with them at all.
