Expedia.com - quoted $ 20.30 per day for Dollar rental car - shocked to find out this rate only applied to weekend days

Complaints.com received the following on May 6, 2003:

RE: Expedia.com - quoted $ 20.30 per day for Dollar rental car - shocked to find out this rate only applied to weekend days In searching for the least expensive car rentals for a recent visit to Nashville, TN, Expedia.com came back with a quote listing the Rental Rate per day as $20.30. We were shocked to find out that this "per day" rate only applied to the "weekend days" and the "extra day" charge of $37.20 applied to the non-weekend days. The car company, Dollar, blamed Expedia and tried to claim that the "Additional Information" justified this.

We were told "You should have used dollar.com to book your reservation". Expedia "Customer Care" blamed the car company, stating: "Unfortunately, car companies do charge additional fees for extra day charges, extra hour charges, taxes, insurance, and refueling.

Also, as stated on your itinerary under "car vender rules & regulations"; special event and peak days can result in higher rates, exact dates and times vary by rental company, date changes may result in rate changes and to check with rental company for complete rental details." This is an UNACCEPTABLE explanation for the total amount charged. We will never trust the price quoted by Expedia.com again! Thanks for listening!
