RE: MSN Internet service - stuck in 2 year contract - trouble logging on MSN - resolved problem, but only after extensive, unnecessary calls to sutomer service

We purchased a new computer through Circuit City. We received a $50. rebate to commit to internet service from MSN for 2 years. We thought they were a reputable well known company so we signed up with their services. For a few months things were fine, but in September 2002 we had constant problems logging on to MSN. We called their help line at least 10 times working with at least 10 different people explaining our story from the beginning at least 10 different times.

On average each of our conversations were 30 minutes. After 4 weeks with no internet service they had us start calling the help line from our cell so we could try working on the system another way. The 3 calls we had to make were all long distance & we ended up spending at least $30. for the charges.

We ended up figuring out the problem 8 weeks later & had been billed for the 2 months that we could not use the internet. At first we were given 3 free months-then after they billed us again in November I called back & the man said they were only permitted to give 2 free months. (in addition, he was rude, abrasive & not sympathetic at all to the problems we had had with MSN) Well, here it is end of May & I have been billed every month.

I refuse to waste any more time on this, but in December our 2 years are up & I will never use the services of MSN for anything ever again. Poorest customer service I have seen!
