Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans - can't locate or purchase replacement blades

Home Depot owns the company that makes Hampton Bay ceiling fans. But they only buy the complete fan from them, they do not handle any replacement parts. The fan blades are non-standard, the universal replacement blades that Home Depot sells are not compatible.

Why do they sell junk ($80 fan) that no replacement blades can be obtained for? The contact number in Home Depot's Customer Service computer shows only 999-999-9999, so there is no way to contact the manufacturer.
