HCI Direct, Inc / Silkies Pantyhose offer - received free pair, then more, unwanted pantyhose and an invoice

Complaints.com received the following on May 19, 2003:

I responded to a free offer of pantyhose from this company and received the free pair. I never received any paperwork or literature from the company asking for approval to send anything else. I simply received more pantyhose and an invoice requesting payment.

I believe that it is California law that any goods sent to a consumer without the consumer's prior consent, does not make the consumer responsible for payment. Their no risk offer states that "each order comes to you individually, on approval only."

Well, I did not order these and do not intend to pay for them either. I will be sending them back and would like to have the account closed and want to be removed from any and all of their mailing lists.

This is what disgusts me about these kinds of marketing ploys: they lead you to believe that you will have the choice to order more of the product, when in actuality, you have no choice at all. Tanja Vierra
