I have used Suntrust for the last three years and have never been completely happy, but recently the service has gotten even worse. I'm a senior at Florida State University and all students obtain a FSUcard through Suntrust, so it's generally the easiest bank for students to use in Tallahassee. Sometimes I think that Suntrust takes this for granted and doesn't try to keep us happy as consumers.

Sometimes on a Saturday night in Tallahassee the ATM machines in town won't accept our debit cards. No explanation, you just can't get to your money. I've actually seen people stranded because they were planning on getting money out to pay for a cab, and they just couldn't. I can think of at least four incident in which either my friends or I haven't been able to get to our own money. To make matters worse, when I tried to contect Suntrust by calling their service line, I'm informed that those are down as well, and there's no way to get any answers about when the problem will be fixed.

I know that sometimes there are unexpected problems that occur, but this has happened so many times that I think Suntrust just doesn't care to fix it. I would feel better if they just acknowledged that there is a problem, they're trying their best to fix it, and that they're sorry. Maybe even give some advance notice about the problem so that people don't find out for the first time when they're stranded at one in the morning.

I don't know how common this problem is with other banks, but I know that I won't be using Suntrust after I graduate, and I don't recommend it to anyone else either.
